The reason for the count’s speech is that he wants to share his proudest things with Harker, which may be like bragging among friends. But Dracula and Harker are not friends. So I guess it is just because the count is the most proud of this event and period . So he wants to tell this story to increase the awe of Jonathan, so as to eliminate his plan to escape or write something bad for Dracula in the letter.

I think the count described the process from the perspective of a participant. He may have been a member of the campaign, because he often used the word “we” in his speeches, which indicated that he was probably one of the participants in the Dracula family at that time.

The audience wants to know about Dracula’s past and the story of the Dracula family. And Dracula, in a very fascinating way, talks about how szekelys regained his territory and made the Dracula family independent. It’s like telling a story, and the note of the article also says “this diary sees horribly like the beginning of the ‘Arabian Nights’.”

Dracula has been telling the story in a third person way, but judging from his tone and attitude, it may be that he is telling his own story. He uses this method because he doesn’t want Harker to know his secret, but he wants Harker to feel the charm and how greatful of the Dracula family is.
